"not for canada - australian in disguise" (for-canada)

I imagine it would sell quite well, especially in Canada, where almost every other car that isn’t a pickup is about the same size as the V40 (Civic, Corolla, Forte, Elantra, all sell in massive numbers). And even if the segment is a rather popular one, there are pretty much no practical luxury options. Closest luxury car I can think of to the size range is the 2-series, which isn’t really practical, or luxurious. Volvo could very much break into that niche. I’ve heard rumblings that it’s coming, but I don’t think it’s set in stone just yet. Also, the XC40 would probably sell in massive numbers, simply going buy the amount of GLAs I see.

In my opinion, it doesn’t look very good.

I’m with you the proportions seem off to me, especially how tall the hood is and how high it rises.

Barely see any here in the UK so I dont know about that. They’re to pricey to compete with golf focus etc and not premium enough to go against the 1 series and a class. Kind of stuck in the middle.

The V40 is awesome and should be sold here. I totally agree. Polestar Blue and a red interior would be the best!
At least you guys get the Rondo, B-class, and Micra.

Really? The V40 is the #5 best sold vehicle in the Netherlands in 2015, and is only beat by the Golf, Clio, 308 and Octavia.

Actually ... on 2nd look of that pictures it reminds me of a Focus with a Volvo face.

It’s actually based off the Focus platform. One of the last remnants of the Ford/Volvo alliance.

Wasn’t there talks about them bringing the V40 over here once it was updated to the new scalable architecture?

I rarely see V40s but half of those I see are police cars.

This is completely anecdotal but I rarely see them around here.

It looks an awful lot like Mazda’s new hatch/wagonnette/cross-over thing.

I think XC40 is first then V40 and S40 later in 2018. It’s going to be after the S60 and XC60 get the SPA platform. Also, after the XC90 gets a refresh

look at you with the inside knowledge! It's cause you bought that xc90 that they give you the Intel right? I knew it!

My mom drives a really loaded V40 Cross Country T5 AWD, with the 254 hp I-5 (which got replaced by a 2.0T I-4 or something). I actually think the Cross Country version looks better, and would probably sell way better in the US.
I haven’t been home in forever so I’ve never seen it (or any V40 in the flesh, actually), but my brother says that thing has quite a bit of get-up-and-go! Right up to a very low speed limiter, at least...
Pic for reference, that’s not actually my mom’s.
